Cloud-native CyberGIS era
Cyrus Shahabi and the USC CyberGIS group are representative for the era, advancing cloud-native spatial data management, provenance-aware workflow services, and elastic processing in distributed geospatial analytics. Shashi Shekhar's work on scalable spatial databases, indexing, and distributed query processing underpins cloud-scale spatial discovery and cross-source data fusion. Michael F. Goodchild's leadership in GIScience, data quality, and governance of volunteered and authoritative inputs informs the provenance and quality-control patterns embedded in CyberGIS infrastructures. Michael Stonebraker's database systems innovations, including parallel and array-based designs as exemplified by SciDB, provided a blueprint for cloud-enabled analytics and scalable spatial data infrastructure.
